  • Access to Finance

SEED works from the inside-out. Our expertise in finance, coupled with our knowledge of the needs of the education sector allows us to use our network to secure finance for parents and educators who are committed to making sure the children in their underserved communities have a chance to escape poverty by getting an education. We empower them with the financial tools and training they need to make sure that children can not only go to school, but also receive a quality education essential for their future success.

    What do we offer?

School Loan: We are stimulating the market to develop tailored financial products for schools, including affordable private schools to enable them to invest in improvements in services and infrastructure. A school proprietor can build another classroom to serve more students, or install running water and bathrooms, which helps girls stay in school. These improvements allow schools to influence a greater number of students with quality education and teachable skills that increase employability. We take it a step further to secure structured partnerships for our network of schools to ensure we have the best deal available.

School Fees Loan: Parents can pay for the school fees of their child(ren) and have the opportunity to pay back in a convenient way.

It is easier for a tomato-seller in the local market to access credit than for an Affordable Private School owner to improve the educational environment of their school. It is even harder for Islamic Schools (based on their faith) to access zero-interest credit. Data from our pilot project showed that this situation holds true for many Affordable Private School owners. Although these schools are serving children from low-income families, government and multi-lateral funding agencies offer little to no support because the schools are privately owned. This served as one of the basis for SEED creating the Access to Finance initiative for this growing sector.
